12th Annual Prescott Chamber/United Way Golf Tournament
May 9th was a full day. Breakfast catered by WildFlower Bread Company and sponsored by the Daily Courier, 18 holes of golf, then lunch catered by Macayo’s. After tallying up the scores, the top three teams were: First Place – Prescott Gateway Mall, led by Brandon Boyster; Second Place – Jeff Hall’s Compass Bank team; and Third Place – the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe team with Floyd James at the helm. All in all, it was a great tournament and fundraising event. The Chamber and United Way would like to thank all the major sponsors (featured on the banner) and the tee sponsors: Downey Savings & Loan, Prescott Home Entertainment, Robar General Funding Corp., and Coldwell Banker/John LaMarr. Thanks also to those who generously donated prizes for the raffle.

On May 20 at Jumpin’ Juice & Java, 1385 Iron Springs Road, Mayor Jack Wilson watched as owners Karyn & Paul Finnell snipped the ribbon. They offer a full line of specialty coffees, espresso drinks and their very own Java smoothies. Also fruit and juice smoothies and Frappes (non-fat and non-dairy). Curves owner Kristy Harris happily cut the ribbon on May 14 for her health, fitness and wellness center for women located at 1040 W. Whipple. On May 12, Watters Garden Center owner Ken Lain had lots of help from the Chamber’s CEO Dave Maurer and no less than 14 Prescott Ambassadors when he opened a new 5,000-sq.ft. greenhouse at his shop at 1815 Iron Springs Road. On April 22, two businesses were introduced to City Council. “Smart Art” the Yogartz cow is flanked by owner Susan Levin and Jake Rosser, owner of Action Vending. Yogartz is located at 150 E. Sheldon, Suite 110 (in the Albertson’s shopping center). The shop features soft-serve, no-fat yogurt, a lactose-free product and sugar-free product. The serve-yourself bar has 12 flavors with 30 toppings to mix and match! Heritage Park Zoo opened its new Kiwanis Corner on April 17 with a host of dignitaries including Mayor Jack Wilson (Prescott), Mayor Harvey Skoog (Prescott Valley) and several Kiwanis members.
